An endocrinologist will make diagnoses based on a combination of physical exams, patient interviews, family histories, blood and hormonal tests, & fine needle aspiration biopsies. Some hormonal conditions may require only regular monitoring, while others may be treated with medication, surgery or hormone replacement therapy. Endocrine specialists work closely with neurologists, neurosurgeons, immunologists, urologists, gynecologists, ophthalmologists and general surgeons.
